This upcycle jewelry stand is made from a plastic CD holder that comes with every stack of 100 count CDs or DVDs. Pretty clever huh? It also uses a small (as in circumference) tube from a roll of foil. A little paint, paper and felt and you’ve got a beautiful way to display your jewelry! I’ve also included a version at the very bottom that uses the small tubes and a plastic cup rather than the CD spool just in case you don’t have one of those lying around. Either choice will make a lovely stand and no one will guess what it’s made from after your finished!

Supplies UsedPlastic CD holder from a 100 stack.
- Felt for bottom of CD holder.
- Small sturdy cardboard tube from foil. These are not the typical tubes but smaller and very firm.
- Paint, Ribbon, paper, etc for decorating your stand.
- Plastic cup. (Another option for your jewelry holder that doesn’t require a CD holder.)
Jewelry Stand Instructions
You need an empty one of these spray painted your choice of color.
A Reynolds foil roll insert tube is small in circumference and very thick. Wrap it with paper that matches your base color. You can also paint it or use material, ribbon or contact paper to cover it. Whatever you have on hand!
Hot glue the tube onto the top of the stand.
Cut some felt to go in the bottom. You can use a CD as a template but you must cut the felt about 1/2″ larger than the CD.
I cut 2 small slits crossways in the center to allow the pole to go through.
It’s the perfect spot for rings!
OPTIONAL USE: You can also use the stand plain without the top tube. BRACELET TUTORIAL HERE
Optional Jewelry Stand with a Cup
You can use the same concept as above only using a tall plastic cup turned upside down and spray painted as your base. For this one I wrapped my tube with ribbon securing with hot glue on each end.
I added some ribbon. You can also add artificial flowers etc.

That is so funny! My husband was just asking if I needed his empty dvd spool for anything. I said no. Kind of wishing I kept it now!
