Tips for Getting Fit in the New Year!

Whether it's a new year or a new mindset focusing on self-improvement, here are some tips for getting fit and making positive changes in your lifestyle!

If you are hoping that the new year will be a new exciting  year for you, and that in particular you will come out of the other side of it with a better, healthier approach to life, then there are many things that you are going to want to consider in order to make that a reality. The truth is that you can easily get fit this year – or fitter – if you really want to, and all it is going to take is a good dose of confidence and perspiration – literally. Of course, everyone is starting out from a different position, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that you are doing whatever you can to get as fit as possible in the coming year. Let’s look at some of the best ways in which you can hope to do that.

Run (or Walk) Twice A Week

It might not sound like much – or to some people, it might sound like a huge amount – but there is much to be said for the simple act of running a mere twice a week. If you are not running at all at the moment, this will of course be a huge improvement. But even if you are, just making sure that you run the bare minimum of twice a week for the whole year is going to really affect your fitness profoundly for the better. Of course, to do this requires no small amount of determination, but that is partly why it is such a good thing to do – and you will find that you get really good at running, and start to have a lot more energy in the days too, so it is absolutely worth it for that reason too.  FYI If running is not your thing WALK! That alone has incredible benefits!

Take Up A Sport

One of the real great British achievements is in the number of sports we have invented. Despite that, many people are not quite as sporty as you might suppose, and that makes for a populace who is not particularly fit either. If you want to try and help turn this around, you might want to think about taking up a sport this year. There are so many that you can choose from, and that doesn’t really matter as long as you are doing something that you can truly enjoy in that way, and which helps to get you fit. Whether you are thinking of taking up kickboxing, tennis, or whatever else – you will find that it helps you to become fit much more easily, and that you are going to feel a lot better about yourself in no time at all. That certainly means that it is worth taking up a sport in 2020.

Join The Gym

If you are really serious about getting fit, then the gym is probably calling you at this very moment. Of course, you need to be careful with joining the gym. You don’t want to make that mistake of joining and then never doing anything about it. You need to make sure that you actually go, and that you don’t merely overlook it for the entire year. That would be a waste of money and you would not get as fit as you possibly could. As long as you can stick to your guns, however, joining the gym can be a hugely helpful way of ensuring that you are going to get much fitter indeed, and it is something that you will want to consider if you are hoping to make a radical change in the coming year in some way or another. Even just going once a week will probably make it a worthwhile membership.

Get More Sleep

Sleep does so many great things for you, it’s truly amazing how much it is going to affect any attempt to get fit. One of the main things it does is that it helps to regulate your metabolism, meaning that if you are not sleeping as well as you could be and you are still exercising, that exercise isn’t going to have as much of an effect as you would hope for it to have. If you want your fitness regimes and diets and so on to be as effective as possible, you need to think about getting as much sleep as you can as well. So make sure that you are doing whatever necessary to make that happen, whether it’s cutting down your caffeine intake, your alcohol intake, or ensuring that you have a good bedtime routine that you follow every night and helps you to nod off early.

Try Fasting

It is no surprise that diet is a big part of getting fit. There is a trend at the moment for fasting, which is a wonderful way to lose weight and get fit while also providing many other wonderful benefits for your body and mind – and, some would say, even your soul. If you have never tried it before, you might be a little worried about it, but it’s actually a pretty easy thing to do and surprisingly effective too. Most people try intermittent fasting, which is where you fast for a certain number of hours in the day, and eat during the eating window. Just doing this, and not reducing how much you eat, can help you lose weight faster, so it’s hardly surprising that so many people are giving it a go. Try it out in 2020 and see what it might be able to do for you.

Eat Whole Foods

For what you do eat, of course, you should make sure that you are eating as healthy as possible, otherwise your fitness regime is not going to have quite the same level of success as you would hope. That means that you want to try and focus on eating whole foods primarily, as they are going to be much better for you on the whole and ensure that you stay slim. So focus on that too, and you will find it much easier to really get fit.
