If you have a small home or apartment that has no area for a treadmill this just might make you rethink that. Our home was 1300 square feet and each room was fairly tiny. But my treadmill is important and I didn’t really want to stick it in the middle of the living room. This required some creativity. Below shows exactly what Roy and I did!
Supplies
-
- Floor to ceiling curtains the width of your treadmill. I used blackout curtains.
- 1″x2″ wood strip the length of your treadmill plus a little extra.
- 2 or 3 screws
- Staple gun
How To
Everyone’s home and situation will of course be different. But this basic idea can work in pretty much any room. You just need to make your own measurements.
My small bedroom. This shows where I want my treadmill to go.
We rearranged the room and put the treadmill in place. I also added a hanging light and a wall shelf in front of the treadmill.
Roy measured how long the 1″x2″ wood strip needed to be which was basically the length of the treadmill plus a few inches.
He then stapled the blackout curtain panels I had purchased onto the wood strip.
He determined where a stud (crossbeam) was in the ceiling so the he could make sure at least one screw was placed into a stud.
Then the wood strip with the attached curtains was screwed into the ceiling. We ended up only needing that single screw into a stud.

The rest of the room.
I turned the area into a little exercise oasis.
