Here’s a unique way to make a bird house from a soda bottle complete with scalloped roof!
Supplies Needed
- One 2 liter soda bottle.
- One 32.8 oz soda bottle.
- Popsicle Sticks
- Spray paint of choice.
- Glue gun
- Goo Gone
- X-acto Knife
- Wire
- Drill
Remove labels and use Goo Gone to remove any residue.
For the BOTTOM use the smaller bottle and measure Up 6.5 inches from bottom of bottle and mark with a wipe off marker.
For the TOP measure about 5″ down from the tip of the lid on the larger bottle and mark.
Cut a hole on each side. The bottom of the hole should be about 3″ up from the bottom of the bottle. The hole should be about 2″ in diameter.
Spray paint the top and bottom the colors of your choice.
Overlap and glue two Popsicle sticks together to make the perch.
Cut a small slit on each side under the hole. Push the Popsicle sticks through.
Drill a small hole in the lid of the top.
Attach the top to the bottom by using a LOT of hot glue on the top edge of the bottom section. You could also use a heavier glue and wait for it to try. Attach wire for hanging.
how do you attach the top to the bottom?
Thanks

Hi Jill! Well I thought that info was on there but I see it’s not! I spent 15 mintues trying to locate files for that post I may have missed and could find none. Anyway, I just use a LOT of hot glue on the top edge of the bottom piece… and yes it will drip a bit, but quickly set the top part on. Then turn it upside down and add more glue where the top meets the bottom. I appreciate you pointing that out. I’m still going to research some more. That’s definitely a missing piece!
