Have you ever been frustrated when shopping online and what you want is listed in metrics? (Assuming you are from the U.S. of course.) Well, this helpful metric chart will be indispensable!
It’s not that I have anything against metrics, it’s just that growing up in the U.S. inches and feet are ingrained in my brain. Being a crafter I buy quite a bit of supplies online. I regularly come across things that are listed in metrics for length or width, such as ribbon and jewelry parts. I created this metric chart which can be kept or taped up somewhere handy. Though after you go over it and read the hints I doubt you’ll need to look at it again. For another handy printable, check out our Daylight Savings Time Reminders.
Optional Supplies
Nice metal ruler with both inches and cm/mm
Awesome metric placement (plastic coated) We purchased one of these. It shows all the metrics. Great for kids and adults!

Thank you for this most handy helper. Sometimes a Canadian will give how-to and pattern which are in centimeters, etc. If it’s project am interested in this will be very handy. I’m in CO, USA.
Happy week
You’re so welcome JaneEllen. Thanks for visiting!
I’m in the UK and people my age generally do a weird mix of metric and imperial. I do all my cooking in pounds and ounces, I measure fabric in cm and inches depending on my mood, my knitting needles and crochet hooks are a mixed bag as I have some that were my Nan’s, we measure distance in miles – go figure! Luckily all our rulers and tape measures here have cms and inches on them automatically.
I have conversion charts saved on my phone for most things, and cooking conversion charts taped inside kitchen cabinets. And don’t get me started on crochet terminology difference round the world!!
I sure wish they had taught up both on school. It’s amazing how difficult something can be if your conditioned to do it another way! Thanks so much Julie for visiting. Ü
