Carrot Garden DIY Easter Basket Supplies
- Small cardboard box with lid
- Plastic eggs, green and orange
- Hot glue gun
- Construction paper, green and brown
- Utility knife
- Green permanent marker
- Flower stickers (optional)
Instructions
Gather your supplies. Any small box with a lid should work. A thin shoe box would be perfect. We used a small closable box that a piece of electronic equipment had come in.
Trace the sides of your box onto your green construction paper.
Cut out the sides and then cut slits around the edge for the grass.
Glue the grass onto all the sides.
Measure and cut a brown top piece for the dirt.
Trace the top smaller portion of your eggs onto your box, spacing them as desired depending on how many carrots you will use.
Cut the holes out using a craft knife, making sure to cut them a tiny amount smaller than the actual tracing. NOTE: You may want to do some test holes in another piece of cardboard so you will know what size they need to be. You want your eggs to sit down in snugly but not fall through.
Glue the lower, longer portion of the green eggs onto the full orange eggs as shown. This creates the carrot effect.
Take a permanent green marker and make lines around the top “greenery” portion of the carrot.
Add flower stickers, if desired, around the edge of the box.
Fill the eggs with goodies and set them down into the holes. NOTE: You can also tack them in place with hot glue if desired. We did that but only for photo purposes.
Fill the box with Easter grass and more goodies completing your DIY Easter basket!
