Do you ever have trouble with tree toppers at Christmas time? As in getting them to stay up straight on the top of the tree? We do almost every year. Even with our little fake tree this year we could not get the tree topper mount to stick into the fake branch correctly. So we came up with a quick fix that works like a charm! It works on typical star tree toppers that are meant to balance on a single branch sticking up. Super quick and easy! How to Make Poinsettia Lights Using Twinkle Lights & Tissue Paper
Supplies Needed
- 1 Wood Dowl as thick and long as needed. (You want one that fits into the tree topper holder or else one that can be glued to the back of the topper. Our was a 2/3″)
- Green spray paint
- Hot Glue Gun
Instructions
Gather your dowel, paint and tree topper. Plus have a hot glue gun ready. If it’s a full size tree you may want to use a full length 36” dowel.
Paint your dowel so that it doesn’t show up in the tree.
Place the dowel into the tree topper holder. You can also glue it to the back of a tree topper if it does not have a holder. Then pump hot glue around the edges or onto the back of your tree topper.
Depending on your tree you may need to tie the dowel to the inner pole (for a fake tree) If your tree is really full it will probably stay in place without tying it. You can use twist ties though you may want to find darker colored ones.
Your tree topper is now ready to push down into your tree!
Slowly feed the dowel down into the tree keeping it as close to the trunk as possible. If you have a real tree with a thick trunk you may need to lean it a bit.
All done!
thank you, this is a great idea.
