This DIY clay pot sugar dispenser is a more elegant version of our Lovely Little DIY Sugar Bowl that we made for our Kitchen Decorating Ideas. It looks beautiful on your counter or where ever you choose to place it. It’s simple and inexpensive to make using only a simple clay pot with the drainer disc and a small clear bowl. Add any type of knob you wish! If you’d like other similar ideas, make sure to check out our Small DIY Cake Stand as that can be used along with this to hold cookies or fruit. You could make a matching set!
Sugar Dispenser Supplies
- 4″ Clay flower pot (this was the best size to fit a standard round bowl )
- 4″ Terracotta plate
- Round decor bowl. (Dollar Store or Walmart in the craft section.) For our pot it was 3.5″ tall with a 3″ opening.
- Hot Glue
- Silver Spray Paint and Cream Color Acrylic Paint
- Paper Towels
- Masking Tape
- 2″ size wing nut from hardware store
- Crystal Knob for top
- Epoxy or Strong Clear Glue
Instructions
Gather your supplies.
Begin by painting the pot and the clay plate in the color of your choice using acrylic paint.
Once dry, tape off the lip of the pot and cover the base with a paper towel.
Spray the exposed sections of the pot and plate with the silver spray paint.
Once dry, remove the tape.
Mix your epoxy as instructed. Using the epoxy, glue the handle or knob of your choice to the bottom of the clay plate. This will become the lid to your sugar bowl.
Turn the flower pot upside down and apply a ring of epoxy. Place the glass bowl onto the epoxy, being sure it is centered. Let dry overnight.
To create a ‘gum ball’ machine look, apply glue to a large wingnut and place it in the center of the flower pot base.
When complete, fill the bowl with sugar, coffee, tea or anything else that you use regularly!
