Craft Room : Rental Home Style

Craft Room Rental Home Style blank630x20

Never think that just because you live in a rental that you can’t do some massively creating things to your home. Roy and I lived in rentals for over three decades. I love making my homes unique so it required a bit of creativity since I couldn’t do anything permanent.  The home below is fairly tiny (1500 square feet) which added even more challenge into the mix. Despite the limited space in this home Roy has a studio, I have an office, a photography corner, a library, an exercise area, and as this post shows, a craft room.  It required some careful partitioning out of rooms which I do with curtains and in this case tall bookshelves. The bookshelves double as walls and of course shelves to hold stuff.  Take a look!   (FYI on the other side of these bookshelves is my library nook.)

I live in a 845 square feet 2 bedroom condo and my 91 year old Dad lives with me. I’d love to see what you could do to make a sewing space!
I need help! I miss sewing!

    Hi Christina!
I hear ya… unfortunatly because every space and what people own is different it can be quite a process to figure out how to make the most of your space. I have someone I pay who does that for me as I’m personally not all that skilled on that the topic, though I’ve lived in many a small home. A single room is more tricker of course. You may have to just google that kind of thing.

We have some great posts on making the most of space, but again its in a small home not a single room. I’ve used curtains hanging from the ceiling many times to break up room space. There’s lots of multi purpose furniture out there for small space living if you have the budget for it. Small home living is big right now so you should be able to find some good resources for that.
Below are some of the ideas we’ve done to get the most space out of a single room or small home. Maybe something in these posts will help you a little.

Best of luck on your project!

  3. I love all the wonderful ideas! But my problem is I have almost no room at all, it’s a storage closet/shed attached to my apartment and it smaller than small! Do you have any suggestions? I could send you some pictures of the area I have to work with and the stuff I need to be able to stuff in there! My email is froggysmiles73@gmail.com and would be eternally grateful for any kind of feedback/ideas!! Thank you
